PWA or native app?

Having "your own app" doesn't necessarily mean going through the App Store. PWAs now cover a large share of needs.

What is a PWA?

A Progressive Web App is a website that behaves like an app: it can be installed on the home screen, opens in full screen, can work partially offline and can send notifications on compatible devices. A single codebase works on iPhone, Android and desktop computers.

When a native app is necessary

For advanced access to hardware (Bluetooth, sensors, background processing), high graphics performance, or if being on the App Store and Google Play is a selling point, a native app is justified.

Our advice

Start with a PWA whenever possible: lower cost, instant updates, no store approval. If your needs grow, the same foundation (your web app and its API) can then be used for a native app.
